Citizen Police Academy Graduation

     Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr., announces the graduation of participants in the 20th session of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy on November 13 at Trumps. The guest speaker was ACCPD Sergeant Courtney Gale. Graduates were Christine Pavlak, Sameh Sayed Aly Aly, Nancy Denson, Elizabeth Nevil, Martha DeHart, Barry Lutsky, Carly Lutsky, Terry Caven, Leigh Hodges, Claire Swann, Suzanne Fuller, Charles Fuller, Amy Dowdy, Adeline Holt, and Anne Bernstein.




     Graduation was the culmination of a 12-week course. Classes, which were held one night each week for three hours, included instruction on topics such as patrol functions, criminal investigation, communication and 911, crime prevention, and many other functions of the police department.

     The next session will begin Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at 6:15 p.m. Applicants must live or work in Athens-Clarke County, be at least 18 years of age, and pass a criminal background check.
